Worth knowing first

The Section 54EC exemption applies to long-term capital gains invested within six months of the date of transfer, up to ₹50 lakh per financial year.

Interest is taxable at your slab rate, but no TDS is deducted on 54EC bond interest.

The bonds are non-transferable, non-negotiable and cannot be offered as security for any loan.

A demat account is not mandatory; the bonds can be held in physical form.
